My Home Office / WFH Setup 2021!

I have been getting a lot of personal messages and some comments on my LinkedIn since I uploaded a picture of my Home Office Desk Setup. So I thought of writing a blog about it.

In this blog, I will mention everything on my desk that I personally use for my day-to-day work. I will also try to put links to those products.

I hope that it will help others or at least give some ideas for their own setup. :)

So….What’s on My Desk? 🤔

The Machine 💻

For the technologies, I work on, I needed a very powerful machine. I used to work on a 13-inch Macbook Pro ( 2017 ) but found it a bit laggy when I started digging deeper into technologies like Docker, Kubernetes, and so on.

So to improve my productivity I got the MacBook Pro 16 Inch with the following specifications:

  • 2.3GHz 8-core 9th-generation Intel Core i9 processor
  • RAM: 16GB 2666MHz DDR4 memory
  • Turbo Boost up to 4.8GHz
  • AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 4GB of GDDR6 memory
  • 1TB SSD storage
  • 40.65 cm (16-inch) Retina display with True Tone
  • Touch Bar and Touch ID
  • Four Thunderbolt 3 ports

I still take my old 13 inch MacBook with me when traveling because of its compact design. It is small yet very powerful. ✈️

The Monitor 🖥

To increase your productivity, multitasking plays a very important role.

I use LG 34WL750-B 34 Inch 21:9 UltraWide™ WQHD IPS HDR10 Monitor with 3-Side Virtually Borderless.

The upsides of ultrawide are more than just a bigger screen that looks beautiful. A wider resolution means more comfortably using two or three windows at once, and the 21:9 aspect ratio can handle videos magically. If you also watch videos at your desk when in your free time, it’s a great way to enjoy your coffee. ✨

The Monitor Arm 🦾

I have mounted a height-adjustable, desk-mounted monitor arm stand by AmazonBasics to enhance my viewing experience. The stand comes with the solid build quality, instantly creating more surface space on the desk, plus allows for effortless monitor positioning.

The HUB 🔗

Because newer Macbooks come with Type-C ports only, It’s a must-have to get a USB HUB. I have been using HyperDrive BAR 6-in-1 USB-C Hub for a couple of years and it works great. This ultra-slim USB-C adapter adds 6 ports: USB-C power delivery, 2 x USB-A, 4K HDMI, micro SD, and SD that are more than enough for my purposes. I highly recommend it.

The Tablet 📲

I have been a big fan of iPads and I personally use Apple Ipad Air 4th Generation for its amazing looks, slim design, great user experience, and powerful features.

Of course, it is mostly used for unwinding by watching movies, swiping through photos, or playing games. But it can be a game-changer if you use it for productivity.

During my work, I use it as my personal assistant and also for taking quick notes during meetings. It reminds me of everything I need, my meetings, calendars, Video conferences, etc. Sometimes I use the Apple SideCar feature to use it as an external screen with my Macbook.

I think I am in love with Siri. ❤️

The Keyboard ⌨️

I enjoy the comfort and convenience of typing on my Macbook, iPad, as well as on my iPhone ( when needed ) with my Logitech K380 keyboard. It is an ultra-slim and beautiful wireless keyboard that connects to all my Bluetooth wireless devices. It’s minimal, beautiful, and extremely silent when typing. Also, it takes a little space on my desk because of its compact design.

The Mouse 🖱

I simply love to use my Logitech Pebble (M350) wireless mouse. It helps my Workspace to be minimalist, modern, and silent…extremely silent it is. 🤫

The Crayon 🖍

I just love to use Logitech Crayon with my Ipad. I have used Apple Pencil before but trust me it’s as good as it is in a very reasonable price tag.

Whether I am taking notes, or draw Sketches, or write documents, It makes countless tasks easier and more fun. I highly recommend going for it if you are not a professional Digital artist.

I am not a PRO artist but I love to draw on my iPad during my free time. You can check some of my digital arts on my Twitter account. 🐦

The Webcam 👁‍🗨

I have integrated Lenovo FHD Full HD Webcam that allows my colleagues to see me as clear as day, even when they are worlds away. It has full stereo dual-mics that are perfect for conferences and meetings.

It looks modern and captures everything with wide-angle 95°lens and pan/tilt controls. Also, it is a plug-and-play USB device that’s so to easy set up. It serves the purpose and I am very happy with it. :)

The Speaker 🔊

I love enjoying music during my work hours. It keeps me feel refreshed and also my mind calm. When it comes to sound, JBL ( James B. Lansing Sound ) will always be my first choice.

I have a JBL FLIP 4 Portable Bluetooth speaker. It definitely sounds amazing and also gives me roughly 10-12 hours of playtime. It is compact enough to fit in my bag to be carried anywhere.

The Microphone 🎙

I needed a better mic than the laptop’s inbuilt mic and I came to know about the Samson Go Mic. It’s compact and totally simple to use. It’s a must-have for all the meetings and conferences where you don’t want a microphone that’s hard to set up and feels crap.

It’s literally a plug & play device and sounds really GREAT too!

This is a rocking small yet tough and versatile mic.

The Light 💡

A simple light can make a dramatic difference in your video conferencing, meetings, or live streaming. I prefer ring lights because they evenly highlight your face rather than the background and enhance your appearance.

I personally use DIGITEK® (DRL-18R) ring light but you can go with any light available in your area.

The TWS 🎧

I use two TWS earbuds and both of them serve different purposes.

  • JBL Free X: I mostly use this pair of earbuds throughout the day to enjoy music while working without disturbing others. I also prefer this when I go through some video courses, tutorials, and so on. It has a great 24 hours battery life and it really produces a very impressive JBL Signature Sound.

  • OnePlus Buds: I only use it during video calls, meetings, conferences, etc. I already have a very good external mic that I mentioned in the above sections, so it only helps me to listen clearly. One of the coolest features about these pair of earbuds is that it has fast charging capabilities. It can give you 3 hours of battery life just by charging it for 10 minutes which can be extremely useful during unplanned meetings.

Others 📦

  • Cable management box that Keeps the Desk looking neat and uncluttered as it hides the cables, socket, and extension lead inside the box.
  • Wire management clips that are easy to use, just peel and stick to any surface you want it.
  • Microphone Scissor Arm Stand.

And last but not least…..My partners in crime! :D
